In
this marketing article I want to discuss the importance of
testing a product’s market appeal BEFORE spending money to
launch a new business and an advertising campaign.
Quite possibly the biggest mistake people make in business is
they spend all of their money building a new product and opening
a business BEFORE they test the market to see if consumers
really want this new product. Many people have lost their life’s
savings and have gone bankrupt by starting a new business to
sell a new product before testing to determine if consumers even
want the product. |
You can never know the public’s response to a product or service
without first testing it to see what their reaction will be.
Testing is the key to success in marketing. NEVER try to sell a
product without first test marketing it to see if consumers
really want it.
It is a fact that four out of every five new products will fail
in the marketplace. If you try to advertise a product on a large
scale before testing it to see if consumers really want it, you
are almost guaranteed to lose all of your money. You should
never guess or assume what the public wants. You have to conduct
test marketing to your target market to know for certain if your
product is what they want.
So, how do you test if consumers want your new product? Here are
two low cost strategies:
1. Create a simple website to test market your product and send
targeted traffic to your website by advertising on Google
AdWords. For under $500 you should be able to tell if your
product is something consumers want. You do not even need to
have a product to do this. Simply use your website as a survey
tool and ask people if they would buy your product and what they
would be willing to pay for it. For more information on test
marketing your product on Google
AdWords, call us at (920) 471-1638.
2. If you have a finished product, besides test marketing it
using Google AdWords, you can also try selling it on eBay.com.
Placing your product in an auction on eBay is very inexpensive
and it is a great way to see if consumers want what you are
selling and what they are willing to pay for it. For more
information on test marketing your product on ebay, call us at 920.592-9595.
