Tostitos Scoops Commercial - Most Stupid TV Commercial
I have seen this TV commercial for Tostitos Scoops a few times and I cannot hold my wrath any longer. This is quite possibly the most stupid TV commercial I have ever seen.
It has a man at a grocery store standing in front of several shelves displaying bags of Tostitos Scoops. You can hear his internal dialogue as he thinks about Tostitos Scoops, as follows:
"Huh, scoops. The chip shaped like a bowl. Sorta like a dip suitcase. Hmmm, edible food luggage. Would you like to check that carry on sir? No, I think I'll eat it. Thank you. Here's to food bowls that are actually food."
That's it. That's the commercial. Somebody was actually paid money to write this rubbish and then more money was spent to produce it into a commercial, and then even more money was spent to purchase air time on TV stations to air this commercial.
This is advertising at its absolute worst. It blows my mind this garbage was approved to be made into a commercial. I want the name of the buyer at Frito-Lay who approved and paid for this ad. I have some swamp land in Florida to sell him or her.
Okay, end of my wrath for now. Comments, flames, other?
Use this commercial as a perfect example of what NOT to do when writing a TV commercial.
As for Frito-Lay, it's time to fire your ad agency, because if this is the best they can do, they should not be in the advertising business.

I actually LOVE this commercial! Those are thoughts that ppl usually think in the store. Well at least I do.
Also LOVE it...I was actually searching for the video as I liked it so much.
I like the commercial too. I find it hilarious. I know a lot of friends that do as well. I agree with Jazmine . . . I think weird things like that in my head. I would imagine a lot of people do. That's I guess why they thought it was a good idea.
This is one of my favorite commercials of all time. You are probably the type of person who just doesn't "get" family guy.

Are you kidding?!?!? That commercial is easily one of my favorite commercials of all time because it so perfectly reflects my thought processes when I'm walking around. I'm scouring the internet trying to find that commercial right now...
The guy in the commercial is high. He is baked out of his mind, staring down the chip isle, contemplating the Tostitos Scoop chip. It is subtle.
It would have not been so subtle if he would have had a shopping cart containing Visine, Glade, and rolling papers.
I thought it was a stupid commercial, but what is more important, did it work? Did it sell chips?
