This book discusses the vital importance of creating business processes to manage every aspect of running your business. It shows you how to fine tune your business and run it with the same attention to detail and consistency as a successful franchise. It shows you how to make your business work for you instead of you working for your business.

As a marketing consultant, one of the main problems I see with many of the businesses that come to me for help is a lack of formal processes for how they run their business. Basically, they “wing it.” They have no defined systems in place for managing customers, taking orders, giving sales presentations, managing their employees, running a consistent marketing program, etc. Everything is in their head and this creates confusion and disorder. It also creates a poor customer experience.

I must confess that my company had this problem before I read this book about one year ago. After reading the book, I started putting systems in place for how we market ourselves, how we talk to prospects, how we manage clients, and how we develop and implement marketing programs for our clients. Those of you who have worked with us have experienced our system first hand when you completed our lengthy client questionnaire.

I am happy to say that once I put systems into place, my business experienced amazing growth. And, as I continue to fine tune and improve our systems, business just keeps getting better and better. By implementing systems, I was forced to see what was working and what was not working and then fix the problems.

By putting systems into place, it forces you to think through every detail of running your business. It also helps you see where you have weaknesses. Each system can be examined as an individual part and fixed, just like an engine.
